My weekly environment practice. This one took me longer than the last topic, but I think it turned out a bit boring …
I tried a different method this time; which I have seen in some imagine FX workshops. I started with several crappy vacation-photos from Japan/Italy/France and cut them together for my basic composition, although I overpainted everything during the painting process. I liked starting the image like this, even though I didn't really use any photographic elements in the end, but it really helped me start, since blank canvas scares the hell out of me.
Anyway, I think I got a bit overboard with fancy brushes this time, and again failed giving it the abstract painterly look of environment pieces I aimed for. I'm really unsure about how to make it look good while staying subtle, it always looks like an ugly mess when I don't define the details… well, back to practice, I guess!
Started with Painter, continued with Photoline, finished with Pixelmator. Heh.
