It's about time to do some environments from #Weekly-Environment again! Here's my attempt at painting a temperate forest. I tried to play with light to create a more interesting look, which is something I would like to learn. I still didn't succeed in achieving a more finished, polished look, but I did push it through at least one "don't know how to go on" hurdle
Edit: Made it a bit lighter in some parts! Also uploaded a bigger file.
Great job on this! The whole painting is very well done but the lighting is superb. You seem to have a very solid understanding of light and the way that it functions. Though, as I think another Deviant mentioned bellow, adding a few brighter patches of sky peaking through the tree tops would add another layer of realism. The texture of the leaves on the forest floor is very well done. You've also managed to create a great sense of depth. Perhaps it's not perfect. But still very well done. Now, if I can just learn to paint environments as well as you do, I'll be happy.
That's gorgeous!! Its not so much what I think of when I think of temperate forests, because mostly I'm thinking of the temperate RAINforests, but it actually looks quite a bit like some of the forested natural areas around here. A little short on undergrowth maybe but there are parts of the forest that look like this too. Good job!
